Find a garment-production partner and understand what must be ready before fabric reaches the cutting table.
This directory focuses on manufacturing new garments and sewn products. For resizing an existing dress, use the dress alterations directory. For recoloring one existing item, start with dyeing services.
Compare manufacturer listings ↓ · Build a commercial project brief →
Choose development, full-package or assembly
- Development: turn designs into patterns, prototypes, fit samples and a production specification.
- Full-package manufacturing: agree which supplier handles fabric, trims, development, assembly, finishing and packing.
- Cut, make and trim: confirm who supplies approved patterns, materials and trims and whether the quoted scope includes cutting.
- Sew-only production: you may need to provide cut components. Do not assume cutting is included because a company also makes samples.
Check the quantity per style and color
A minimum stated per design may also apply per color, fabric or size grouping. Ask whether development orders, approved repeats and first production runs have different requirements. Compare the full cost—including sampling, grading, setup, materials and freight—before selecting a supplier.
Plan dyeing with the garment maker
If you intend to garment-dye after sewing, coordinate the material, thread, trims, labels, processing route and approved sample with both companies before cutting. If the fabric will be dyed first, establish the usable finished width and dimensional requirements before approving a marker and fabric yield.
Use the fabric dyeing directory, PFD fabric suppliers and commercial project brief to connect those decisions.
Prepare a supplier-ready specification
- Garment or product category, intended use, reference images and technical drawings.
- Fabric composition, construction, weight, width and the party responsible for supply.
- Pattern ownership, sample status, measurements, grading and approved size range.
- Quantity by style, color and size, plus anticipated repeat orders.
- Trim, label, packaging and finishing requirements.
- Inspection method, acceptable tolerances and sample approval stages.
- Required delivery location, timeline and production country.
Compare cut-and-sew and sewing companies
The initial listings below were reviewed against official company sites on October 12, 2026. They include U.S. production businesses and a UK-headquartered business with overseas production. Published numbers and services require project-specific confirmation.
Important scope differences are included in each listing: Portland Garment Factory excludes emerging fashion-line development; Hidden Opulence publishes cut-and-sew for samples and sew-only for production; Hawthorn identifies overseas manufacturing.
Fiber mentions are a shortlist, not confirmed project acceptance. Confirm exact composition, quantity, process and current availability.

Questions to ask before placing a production order
Which factory will perform the work? Will any step be subcontracted? Who approves the sample, shade, fit and final measurements? What happens if materials shrink or a production lot fails inspection? Confirm the written quotation, responsibilities and approval records before ordering.
A listing is a research starting point. Fast Dye has not independently audited these factories or established a production partnership with them. To suggest a manufacturer or update published details, list your company.
