PFD garments: prepared for dyeing
PFD Garments
PFD means prepared for dyeing. These garments are supplied with preparation intended to support later coloring, but the label does not guarantee that every dye, shade or treatment will work. Ask the supplier for the fiber composition, preparation details and any finishes already applied.
Check the complete construction. Main fabric, sewing thread, lining, elastic and trims can respond differently, so a PFD fabric does not automatically make every part of a sewn garment dyeable. Confirm shrinkage allowance and any components that should remain a different shade.
For cotton, professional preparation commonly includes cleaning to remove unwanted residues and may include bleaching for a suitable base shade. The exact process depends on the material and target color. White appearance alone does not prove a garment is prepared for dyeing; brighteners or finishes may affect the result.
Before a production order, approve a test on the same garment style and material lot. Record the target shade, fit, feel and relevant care performance. Ask the dyer about minimum quantities, preparation, finishing, full pricing and delivery. The PFD fabrics guide explains what to check when buying material before cutting and sewing.

Before & after dyeing color ideas
Actual results depend on the item and treatment. A specialist must assess the complete item, fiber content, existing color and finish before confirming a suitable treatment.
